Bridal Hair Tips for Wedding Season

Bridal Hair Tips for Wedding Season

Wedding season is in full swing, meaning that most brides are in the midst of finalizing last minute details as they’re getting down to the wire—from finalizing floral arrangements and seating arrangements to their own personal details, such as hair, makeup and accessories. How does a bride know what hair style will look best on her for the big day? There’s no right or wrong answer and the options are endless, but here are a few helpful tips to assist the bride-to-be in selecting and getting, her ideal wedding hair.

Jesamondo Salon & Spa is a proud purveyor of the world’s finest hair products by Oribe, so we’re recommending a few of them here as they’re the best accouterments for outstanding hair—for your wedding day and beyond!

  •  Meet with your hair stylist several weeks before the wedding
Discuss looks that you like (flip through bridal magazines, Pinterest, beauty blogs and more to see what types of styles strike your fancy, and will match nicely with the style of dress you’ll be wearing on your wedding day). It’s important to do this early so that you can maximize the quality of your hair before the wedding—with dry and brittle hair, you’ll need to stick to a bi-weekly regimen of hair masques to repair split ends, impart more shine, and tame frizz (we personally love the Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque and the Oribe Masque for Beautiful Color). Additionally, if you have color treated hair, you’ll need to carefully plan your color touch up treatment—depending on your hair, that could be 3-4 weeks before the wedding, allowing it to grow in and look more natural. This also allows enough time to fix it if the color isn’t exactly perfect. And don’t forget to get your ends cleaned up—a quick trim about 4 weeks before the wedding will ensure a sumptuous, polished look.

  •  Location. Location. Location.
This may seem obvious, but with all the details swirling in a bride’s head, it’s easy to forget that an outdoor wedding vs. an indoor wedding can lead to different issues—frizz from humidity outside, wind, and even rain, can completely derail the best laid plans. It’s always best to have a Plan B for your hair. For example, if your goal was to have a sleek chignon under your veil, but wind is suddenly forecasted for the day, be open to having another impressive style planned—maybe loose, romantic waves will do the trick. At any rate, stock up on Oribe’s Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray to help keep frizzy hair at bay with any style you end up wearing that day.

  •    Big. Fat. Beautiful Hair!
Some brides dream of long, thick, luscious hair for their wedding day. If that’s your goal, Rapunzel, why not experiment with some extensions for added length, or to add volume to thin hair? It’s your day—dream big and make it happen. Add a little Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse at the roots for an even bigger mane.

  •  Accessories are a bride’s best friend
Even the plainest of wedding hair styles can look simply ethereal with a wink of a hair accessory studded with Swarovski crystals or pearls—whether it’s a bobby pin tucked behind the ear, or a comb embellished with glittery crystals to hold a veil in place, or a full-on tiara, the options are endless. To ensure that the accessory stays in place, tease your hair in that area and apply Oribe Superfine Hair Spray. It’s a medium hold that’s easy to brush out at the end of the festivities.

  •    Be Queen for the day—it’s all about you
Your wedding day is one you’ll want to reflect upon, cherish, and enjoy looking at pictures of for years to come. So whether your hair stylist, mother-in-law, or best friend says you must wear an updo because you’re wearing a strapless gown, but you’ve always dreamed of long romantic tendrils locked under a birdcage hat instead of a veil—GO FOR IT! This is your day to be the best version of yourself, not someone else. Make your hairstyle and overall look resemble our individuality and style. It’s good to be the queen…

On a final note, while hairstyling is ultra important for a polished look, don’t forget about your face and make up. Did you know that having a pampering, hydrating facial for up to a week prior to your wedding, creates the perfect canvas for your make up application? It’s true! The skin will be in tip top shape (no squeezing of blackheads or peels, as this will cause a break out), hydrated, and the make up will actually last longer on your skin. Nothing looks better than a clean, brilliant face to match the gorgeous bride herself.
