Bored with Your Usual Cut and Color?
Refresh your look with the season's hottest new hair style and color trends. From the catwalks in New York City to Paris and other European destinations, here's the best of what the "season of renewal" has to offer.
Hair Styles that Reign
Super slick with a few "puns" intended are hot looks to steal right now. Similar to last spring and summer, this year promises to add a few new exciting twists to send your heart a-flutter. Here are some of the top head turners:
SUPER SMOOTH, SUPER STRAIGHT
Think sleek, ultra smooth, pin straight hair. It's striking in any color and looks effortless and chic - although it's not as carefree as it may appear. Proper use of styling tools and hair products (glazes and hair glossers) can do the trick. This style looks also looks great as a low pony tail as well.
Chop the locks to create short, wispy bangs for a completely different look--it'll open the curtain to show more of your beautiful face. Works on long or short hair, accommodating everyone's current style.
Not just for men and boys anymore, stay cool this summer with a fresh buzz cut to show your sense of style and confidence (you'll need it for this dramatic change). Not for everyone, but it still looks ultra hip and modern.
Add a tiara or headband if you're worried you'll lose some femininity with this type of cut. If you have a beautifully shaped head, flaunt it!
What do you get when you cross a ponytail with a bun? A "pun" of course! Talk about a quick and easy way to look chic and carefree, this style has taken the world by storm. You'll see it everywhere -- urban settings as well as down on the farm. Give it a shot - if you hate it, just shake it off.
Braids remain a favorite again this year, probably because there are just so many options. They can be simple, glossy plaits running down your back, or twisted turban-like styles that wrap around your head, and more. The options are unlimited, which is probably why it simply just won't ever go "out of style."
Hair colors are always a fun option to play with if you want to switch things up, and 2016 has some interesting hues to try.
POP OF COLOR!
Let's get to the "root" of this trend--it's an interesting look that can embrace any color combos. The focus lies in the 2-3 inches from the scalp with a specific color, followed by a lighter color after it for the rest of the hair. Similar but different from ombre, the root area becomes the focal point with a vivid color followed by a more subdued color to the ends.
It's a little blonde and red mixed together to create an array of hues in what's labeled the "rose gold" color scheme. Some chose a more subtle approach to this color while others can ramp it up to a real pink or hot pink tone.
We love this color - perfect for dark-haired beauties, it's a mix of black and blue, with an extra dose of blue to shine through. It's electrifying!
PURPLE RAIN, PURPLE REIGN
Back to basics: if you mix blue with pink what do you get? Purple, of course. Mixing the two "colors of the year" by Pantone®--Rose Quartz and Serenity--is brilliant! It's bold and definitely a head turner!
Blonde is a classic, what can we say. It never goes out of style but you can jazz it up a little this season by going lighter/more platinum, or adding some lowlights. Or, just keep it as is, adding a touch of gloss for super shine.
"BRONDES" - STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU
Brown hair with a touch of blonde added through highlights, ombre, or stepping up your color from mid brown to a lighter shade of the hue is a popular trend among celebrity A-listers and the rest of us. It has a warmer and more natural feel than its platinum or super light partner in the color scheme.
