HOT Looks, Cool Style for Spring/Summer 2016

Bored with Your Usual Cut and Color?

Refresh your look with the season's hottest new hair style and color trends. From the catwalks in New York City to Paris and other European destinations, here's the best of what the "season of renewal" has to offer.

Hair Styles that Reign

Super slick with a few "puns" intended are hot looks to steal right now.  Similar to last spring and summer, this year promises to add a few new exciting twists to send your heart a-flutter. Here are some of the top head turners:

SUPER SMOOTH, SUPER STRAIGHT
Think sleek, ultra smooth, pin straight hair. It's striking in any color and looks effortless and chic - although it's not as carefree as it may appear. Proper use of styling tools and hair products (glazes and hair glossers) can do the trick. This style looks also looks great as a low pony tail as well.

FRINGE BENEFITS
Chop the locks to create short, wispy bangs for a completely different look--it'll open the curtain to show more of your beautiful face. Works on long or short hair, accommodating everyone's current style.

THE LATEST "BUZZ"
Not just for men and boys anymore, stay cool this summer with a fresh buzz cut to show your sense of style and confidence (you'll need it for this dramatic change). Not for everyone, but it still looks ultra hip and modern.

Add a tiara or headband if you're worried you'll lose some femininity with this type of cut. If you have a beautifully shaped head, flaunt it!

"PUN" INTENDED
What do you get when you cross a ponytail with a bun? A "pun" of course! Talk about a quick and easy way to look chic and carefree, this style has taken the world by storm. You'll see it everywhere -- urban settings as well as down on the farm. Give it a shot - if you hate it, just shake it off.

TWISTED SISTER
Braids remain a favorite again this year, probably because there are just so many options. They can be simple, glossy plaits running down your back, or twisted turban-like styles that wrap around your head, and more. The options are unlimited, which is probably why it simply just won't ever go "out of style."

 Color My World

Hair colors are always a fun option to play with if you want to switch things up, and 2016 has some interesting hues to try.

POP OF COLOR!
Let's get to the "root" of this trend--it's an interesting look that can embrace any color combos. The focus lies in the 2-3 inches from the scalp with a specific color, followed by a lighter color after it for the rest of the hair. Similar but different from ombre, the root area becomes the focal point with a vivid color followed by a more subdued color to the ends.

MOVE OVER REDHEADS - ROSE GOLD IS HERE TO STAY!
It's a little blonde and red mixed together to create an array of hues in what's labeled the "rose gold" color scheme. Some chose a more subtle approach to this color while others can ramp it up to a real pink or hot pink tone.

BLACK & BLUE AND "STEEL" ALL OVER
We love this color - perfect for dark-haired beauties, it's a mix of black and blue, with an extra dose of blue to shine through. It's electrifying!

PURPLE RAIN, PURPLE REIGN
Back to basics: if you mix blue with pink what do you get? Purple, of course. Mixing the two "colors of the year" by Pantone®--Rose Quartz and Serenity--is brilliant! It's bold and definitely a head turner!

BLONDES ALWAYS HAVE FUN
Blonde is a classic, what can we say. It never goes out of style but you can jazz it up a little this season by going lighter/more platinum, or adding some lowlights. Or, just keep it as is, adding a touch of gloss for super shine.

"BRONDES" - STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU
Brown hair with a touch of blonde added through highlights, ombre, or stepping up your color from mid brown to a lighter shade of the hue is a popular trend among celebrity A-listers and the rest of us. It has a warmer and more natural feel than its platinum or super light partner in the color scheme.

'Tis the season to mix things up, refresh and renew. Have some fun with it with a new 'do or color change. We invite you to visit the salon and consult with an expert stylist or colorist to see what could be in store for you!

HAPPY SPRING!

It’s a quick and easy hair treatment that effectively covers the grays that you’d prefer to hide for a few more years. Unlike full hair color treatments, Goldwell's Men Reshade restores your natural color, covers the grays, and takes only 5 minutes! For a fresher and more youthful appearance, reshade your hair today. Only your stylist will know…

Haircuts:
Men’s haircuts, complete with a luxurious wash and head massage, are perfect for relaxing and keeping hair tamed and well groomed.

MANicure/Pedicure:
From refined CEOs to pro sports players, or any man who wants to look well groomed, manicures and pedicures are the perfect solution for neat looking hands and feet. There's nothing like a warm foot bath and calf massage at the end of a busy day.

Men's Refining Facial:
With facial hair, men often experience in-grown hairs that itch and can be painful. A soothing, refining facial is the perfect solution for calming these irritations.

Men's Massage:
After a long hectic day, de-stress with a relaxing massage. Choose from deep tissue to a lighter intensity Swedish massage, depending on your needs.

Chest and Back Waxing:
Unlike Steve Carrell's experience in The 40 Year Old Virgin, our expertly trained staff minimize the pain involved in stripping away unwanted hair from the chest and back regions, leaving smooth, sexy skin behind.

Goldwell Salon Products for Men:
Specifically created for men, Goldwell produced a line of products that are of the highest quality that’s consistent with the brand, but with a more masculine scent. DualSense Hair & Body by Goldwell is a favorite among our clients, with a unique scent just for men. Try their other products too!

Fall 2015 Trend Report: Marvelous Manes & Fresh Makeup

If you've been observing the fall runway shows and have have watched the latest award ceremonies, it's clear that hair trends for 2015/2016 showcase a range of lengths, colors, and styles, with exciting makeup to match. We've included some of our favorites in this blog and hope they'll inspire you if you're considering a change or just want to see what's new on the street and the runways.

Lady Gaga rocked a retro glam bob at the Emmys, and looks spectacular in this specific style that frames her face nicely and showcases her beautiful features. This is pure Hollywood glam from a past era, but we’re happy to see its resurgence.

Sienna Miller looks unruly and sassy with her sweet wavy style at the Burberry Prorsum fashion show. This edgy look incorporates a shoulder-grazing cut with loose waves that’s nothing short of sexy, fun, and playful.

Kristin Stewart takes on a “punk chic” look with her straight, slicked back ‘do that’s effortless and stylish.

Rachel McAdams looks adorable with her more whimsical short bob that takes on a life of its own—lots of movement as a result of multi-layering.

Zendaya Coleman was all about classic glamour with her voluminous curls at the Miss America Pageant 2015, where she was one of a handful of judges. Her side swept curls are nothing short of elegant chic.

Elizabeth Olsen is looking sophisticated and chic in her golden “Lob,” and shockingly similar to her older twin siblings of fashion and Hollywood fame.

Kate Bosworth looks divine in her mid-length “Lob” that’s sleek and straight and oh so simple to care for.

For those who still cherish their long tresses and aren't quite ready to take the leap, check out the following gorgeous looks.

No “lobs” for Serena Williams in her glossy, flat-ironed tresses that are sleek and sexy. Game on for this girl!

Luxe locks for Salma Hayek with her feathery, layered mid-length style. The look is carefree and effortless.

How can you not love the dramatic side sweep of luscious, curly strands sported by Nina Agdal at the Michael Kors Fragrance launch? With mermaid-like waves her hair and beauty is the source of all envy.

Camilla Belle totally rocks in her slicked back ponytail at the Michael Kors Frangrance launch.

Naomi Campbell is still smoking hot with her long wavy cut and wispy bangs.

Hair Color Forecast for Fall 2015

Ombré remains popular, bold streaks of color, and “babylights”—a technique of painting on highlights in smaller sections to mimic the natural effects of sunbathed hair—are all hot trends seen on the streets and the runways. Luxurious, warm colors that are ideal for fall and cooler months ahead include darker blondes and golds, deep browns, rich reds and coppers, are all sharing the limelight.

And then there’s the more unique shades of the rainbow that are the craze of the moment…think “My Little Pony,” and unicorns.

Angel babyEva Longoria looks purely angelic in her “babylights.”

Dark chocolate—good for the body and the hair, as illustrated on Katie Holmes— looking radiant in her mid-length “lob.”

You’re as cold as Ice…Gwen Stephanie warms up her icy-white blonde hair with “buttercup” at the roots and tips to keep her platinum locks looking cool instead of  brassy.

My Blue Heaven…If you’re a celebrity or Marge Simpson, you can pull off the blue haired look. For the rest of us, there are more subtle and work appropriate effects we can achieve with blue tints on dark hair that provide a striking effect. Check out Nicole Richie with her blue tints interwoven with her dark brown hair, capturing just enough of the blue highlights for spectacular color play results.

“Bronde,” is a newly coined term inspired by blondes who are edging their way toward the dark side…but not too dark. Blake Lively is a master at this one, and she pulls it off beautifully.

Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is another icon sporting the new “bronde” look very tastefully.

And then there’s the unicorn/My Little Pony brigade, otherwise known as “rainbow hair,” which can be seen everywhere these days—from morning co-host Kelly Ripa of The Kelly & Michael Show, to pop stars including Kesha and Katie Perry, among numerous others.

Julianne Hough looks lovely in her blonde based hair with pinkish overall strands.

Katie Perry with black roots and amethyst locks – maybe she’s seeking the role of “Ursula” in The Little Mermaid?

Pop icon, Kesha, sports the rainbow effect incorporating pink, blue, purple and green as she hops onto this bold statement trend. This one is aptly named the “opal effect,” with glints and glimmers of a range of cotton candy hues.

Whatever the color choice you make for your hair, what’s hot on the makeup front to match these wonderfully bold cuts and colors?

Fall 2015 boasts a range of exciting and warm color palettes to match and complement the exotic hair trends of the season—many of which you probably already noticed on the celebs featured. Here’s what celebrity makeup artist, Stacey Frasca shares with us for top trends for fall using her line of makeup-Studio 28 Cosmetics, available at Jesamondo Salon & Spa:
