Summer calls for easy, effortless hair, so here’s the “411” for keeping your hair in optimal condition from several of our hair care experts at Oribe. In a nutshell, there are 10 key factors to keep in mind as you hit the beach, so let’s dive in.

1.  Summer calls for serum

Heat, sun, chlorinated pools, and saltwater can have damaging effects on hair—leaving it dull, brittle, and lifeless. A serum can rescue damaged hair because of its intensity and concentration. 2.  Keratin is a MUST

Supershine Moisturizing Cream has keratin in it, so it’s great for getting rid of frizz and repairing brittle ends. If you have less dense hair, go for Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream, and if you need extra taming, try Smooth Style Serum, which manages frizz and seals split ends.

3.  Dream about beachy waves—wake up to them in the morning

One of the easiest ways to create beachy waves is to wash your hair before bed and set it with Foundation Mist all over the hair. Add Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil or Supershine Moisturizing Cream from roots to ends. Twist your hair into loose buns, securing with two bobby pins crisscrossed at the base of each. In the morning, blow-dry and hand-diffuse each bun if it’s still damp. Then stretch out the hair for long, easy waves. 4.   A summer favorite: Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse 

Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse is a great product for summer. The best way to use it is on damp or wet hair. Using your fingers, rake the product through your hair and then diffuse-dry or air-dry. Surfcomber is like pomade in a can, so it’s a great product for men and women. Dispense a golf ball-size amount in your hands and slick your hair back.

5.   A simple day-to-night summer hairdo

On hot summer days, blow-dry your hair until it’s about 90% dry. Apply Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream and a little Crème for Style, and put it up into a top knot. Apply Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray to tame flyaways. At the end of the day, let your hair down and the result will be outrageously gorgeous locks with waves!

6. Protect before you take the plunge!

Saltwater—nature’s beautifier—can extract keratin and color from your hair. Ever wonder why blonde hair turns green after a dip in the pool? It’s the copper deposits in the water (not chlorine). So what can you do? Protect it with a physical barrier. Before you go into the ocean or pool, wet your hair with simple tap water, comb through with Conditioner for Brilliance & Shine, slick hair into a bun and dive in!
